Hauppauge, NY, November 3, 2008 – Schneider Optics, the well known lens and professional filter manufacturer, has announced the coming availability of the Schneider-Kreuznach Apo-Tele-Xenar Compact lens for professional photographers and amateur photo enthusiasts shooting in large format. The Apo-Tele-Xenar Compact 11/350 lens in Copal 1 raises the bar for high resolution, lightweight and low-cost lenses for view cameras
The 350 mm f11-f22 Apo-Tele-Xenar lens is apochromatically corrected and contains four fully symmetrical elements. It provides outstanding images with very high contrast and has a large 350 mm image circle suitable for use with all formats up to 8 x 10 inches (18 cm x 24 cm).
View cameras with short bellows extensions of up to approximately 320 mm can use an accessory lens tube, which shortens the distance between the lens and the camera by approximately 44 mm without mechanical vignetting. The back of the tube has a size 3 thread so that conventional lens plates with a size 3 inner diameter can be used.
The Apo-Tele-Xenar Compact 11/350 in Copal 1 is expected to be available from photo dealers in North America beginning early May, 2009.
